SCONSA Environmental Services are aquatic weed control specialists. We have a wealth of knowledge in the control and removal of aquatic weed on lakes and ponds.
We understand the constraints on waters when aquatic weed is a problem. Too much weed on fishing lakes, creates many problems for anglers and fishery owners. Anglers find it more difficult to land their prize fish due to in becoming tangled in the weed. This is not only frustrating for the angler but distressing for the fish. Lost fish means bad publicity, thus reducing the income of the fishery. It is important to ensure all aquatic weeds are maintained throughout the season. It is just as important to ensure that an element of weed is retained in the lake or pond for fish and other marine life.
The Weed Harvesting Solution
Sconsa Environmental Services operate a selection of weed cutting and weed harvesting equipment, including berky weed harvesters for larger projects.
All of our machines are each to launch and require minimal access. Our harvesters are maintained to the highest standard and meet all environmental regulations. We are able to control surface weeds as well as rooted plant life down to depths of up to 3 metres below the water surface.
Weed cutting and harvesting is one of many waterway management services offered by Sconsa Environmental Services, either on a single job, ad hoc or contract basis.
Unlike many contractors we are also registered waste carriers, and can arrange for cuttings to be recycled or dispossed of safely.
Aquatic Weed & Algae Control
We are aquatic weed control specialists. Our approach to aquatic weed control is to specify the type and severity of the weed infestation and often focuses on solving the problem by targeting the source of the occurrence.
One of the prime reasons for infestation is poor lake ecology, a catalyst for weed and algae problems.
We use ecologically sensitive techniques and have the necessary knowledge, specialist aquatic equipment and practical expertise to undertake any situation regardless of pond or lake size. This involves biological identification and assessment of the weed infestation, followed by practical, efficiently executed solutions.
Biological weed control
By stocking bottom feeding species of coarse fish, such as carp, tench and bream. These fish feed actively amongst the root system of soft submerged weeds often uprooting them. The increased turbidity caused by the feeding fish also reduces light penetration, limiting photosynthesis.
SCONSA Fishery Management Solutions, can arrange the supply and delivery of all species of coarse fish, along with the appropriate environment agency consents and health check requirements.
